“Chiang Rai day trip was excellent. We were given adequate time in all the places of interest. K Wan was our tour guide. She gave a background about every place. She told us how to make the best use of our time at every stop. Our first stop was hot springs where we dipped our feet in the hot springs. We had a good time going around the tribal village admiring and buying their handicraft. Wat Rong Khun (White temple) was amazing. She suggested a restaurant at Chiang Rai where we got tasty Thai vegetarian lunch. Next we visited Wat Rong Suea Ten (Blue temple). It is beautiful. We relished…”

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 2,643 reviews · 8 - 9 hours · from $48

This 8 to 9-hour Krabi day trip links three major sights: mineral-rich hot springs, Thung Teao Forest’s Emerald Pool, and Tiger Cave Temple. You’ll travel by minibus or coach with hotel pickup, an English-speaking guide such as Sky, Micky, or Duncan, lunch, fruit, and drinking water. The temple climb is the demanding part, with 1,260 steep steps each way.

“We had a very good trip and the guide was great. There was a bit of a dilemma at the start as we needed a pick-up/drop-off from a different hotel due to a change, but it was eventually sorted out. The walk up to the Tiger Cave was fine for me as I’m a fit athlete, but many people struggled with it—it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted. Overall, it was a good day and we enjoyed the experience.”

English-speaking guides such as Mimi, Sun, Bass and V are praised for clear timing, photos, water and local insight. Entry fees cost extra.

“What a fantastic day! The hot springs are awesome. The blue, crystal and emerald pools are amazing. Nice little hike. The climb up above tiger cave is tough. It’s 1260 sets up and it will drain you. It takes about 45 minutes to get up. You will enjoy the view. They have lots of water at the bottom and top which you will need because you will be sweating. The view is amazing. I wish I would have taken my drone to fly it. The climb down is much easier. Our guide was awesome, his name was V. A fantastic day.”

“It was a very beautiful journey. Originally wanted just the Emerald Pool and Tiger Cave experience, but the Hot Springs were surprisingly amazing! Wished we could have spent more time in the national park. The day was very hot so the trek up to the Buddha was a bit of a challenge but worth it. Ohm (sp?) was our guide and we all really like her. Very sweet, kind and patient. True Thailand hospitality. Thank you.”

“The trip was fine and Otto, or guide was great. Very friendly and explained things well. He took many photos and shared them very quickly with us. Our one critique is that the trip would have been better if it started at the temple and ended in the soothing waters of the Emerald Pool due to the physical nature of climbing the steps. Overall, we would recommend the experience as it is a unique opportunity to see other aspects of Krabi besides the beach scene.”

Seeing the blue pool was really beautiful, and it nice to get the chance to swim in the emerald pool. We ended the excursion with the hike up to see the Buddha at tiger cave temple and this was definitely something that could be more challenging for some people. It is something that you want to have plenty of water for and take your time, by the top our legs were very tired but…”
